Every cat gets a card.
KittenDex turns the strays, barn cats, and neighborhood regulars you meet into a personal field index. Spot one, log it, and watch its entry grow the more you check in.

Three steps, repeated for every cat you meet
KittenDex isn't a photo album — it's a living index. The value comes from returning, not just the first catch.
Notice a cat
See a cat out in the world — a barn cat, a stray on your street, the regular who sits on the same porch. That's a sighting.
Give it an entry
Name it, note a few details, add a photo if you've got one. KittenDex builds the rest of the field entry from there.
Keep checking in
Repeat sightings raise a cat's stats. Go too long without one, and those stats start to fade — showing up is the whole game.
Built like a Pokédex, tuned for real cats
The mechanics borrow from creature-collecting games, but every system is here to reflect something true about getting to know an animal.
Stat decay
Stats aren't permanent. Skip too long between sightings and a cat's friendliness and familiarity start to slide.
Progression system
Every logged sighting pushes a cat along its own curve, from stranger to regular to resident.
Sighting cooldowns
A built-in cooldown stops you from farming the same cat five times in ten minutes. Relationships take real time.
Push notifications
Get a nudge when a cat's stats are about to decay, so you know it's time to go check in.
Custom theming
Reskin the app to match your mood — the interface is yours to tune, not just the cats.
A running field index
Every cat you've ever logged, sorted and searchable, like flipping through a well-worn field guide.
Self-hosted, from the ground up
KittenDex runs entirely off a home server. No third-party backend, no rented database — just a Synology NAS doing quiet, steady work.
